Following a career in teaching and an inspirational year studying for a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Coventry University, Nessa began her ceramics practice in earnest in 2020. She hasn’t looked back since.

She has run many classes and workshops in wheel throwing and hand building, from beginners to improvers. She is experienced at working with adults, children and those with SEN.

Her priority is creating warm, nurturing environments where all students can take time to work at their own pace to create from stoneware clay.

She has also developed her own range of stoneware household items; cups, soap dishes, coasters, fired in her electric kiln using glazes she makes from scratch. Additionally, she spends time wood-firing ceramics in a range of anagama and fast fire kilns up and down the country. These produce more unusual pieces which are often decorative rather than purely functional.

Fire Formed Stratford is a culmination of this work over the last years. In shop opening hours, a downstairs space where you can see and buy her ceramics whilst watching her make…Outside of opening hours, a fully equipped making and teaching space where you can learn the art of pottery.
